From Victim to Survivor

C.L. Heckman's Journey

C. L. Heckman is a child abuse survivor from Pennsylvania.  After growing up in an abusive home at the hands of several of her family members, Heckman struggles every day with the scars left behind. Due to severe anxiety, OCD, and PTSD, Heckman had a difficult time working a regular 9-5 job after having her children. After spending many years in and out of therapy, she found the best treatment was writing. The words flowed from her brain so fast that her pen and fingers could barely keep up. In 2013, within just weeks, Charlie's Secret was written, and Heckman hasn't stopped since.

Heckman also has a burning love for animals, mainly horses. She currently lives on a farm with her husband and children and finds peace while shoveling manure.  She spent over 25 years riding and showing Arabian horses and absolutely loves the sport. She got out of showing about ten years ago but hopes to get back in the ring one day soon. For now, she rides for fun with her family, and in 2021 decided to follow her dream of opening her own riding facility. Although it's been a struggle running her own business and was forced to close down for going on 5 months due to unforeseen circumstances, she hopes to reopen in the future.

Using her personal experiences as the basis for most of her books, Heckman continues to share her stories in the hopes that they will reach new readers every day. She created this site to bring together her fans and give them the opportunity to chat about her books through the forums or contact her directly to share their opinions.

She will also write about her journeys as an author, and her struggles with anxiety through her blog.
